This report gives the picture of the needs of adults with learning disabilities highlighting acute problems that need to be tackled by public services and wider society. Various statistical and qualititative data is reviewed. For instance, people with learning disabilities get less good health care meaning that they are more likely to die prematurely. This is despite the requirement and facility for an annual health check which many, 45%, don’t get from their GP. There are about 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability – as adults they suffer more from loneliness, isolation, bias and discrimination.
